This is an Antique 1850 Eastern Map with Stagecoach, Canal, Railroad, and Steamboat routes. The formal title is "Travellers Map of the Middle, Northern, Eastern States and Canada Showing all the Railroad, Steamboat, Canal and Principal Stagecoach Routes. It was published by J. Disturnell at 157 Broadway in 1850. On the bottom right it also lists the Principal Canal, Railroad and Steamboat Routes with the number of miles of each. This map was copyright in 1847 and we only able to identify its existence in the rare manuscripts collection of Cornell University and in the Library of Congress. It is framed in glass and the original cover "pocket" package which held it when folded is attached to the back of the frame. This historic artifact takes you back to the period as it enables you plan any excursion between two points on the map and comprehend the relative importance and evolution of these four modes of transportation. In the frame it measures 3/4"x19-3/4"x25" and weighs 6 pounds.
